I'm using a low-end Android phone, and I'm not a social media influencer, but I do scroll through Instagram often. I'm considering switching from the regular Instagram app to Instagram Lite to save on performance and battery. Has anyone had experience with this? Also, if you could share your device model when giving advice, that would be great. I'm already using Facebook Lite, but I want to hear more than just reviews from Google Play.

I say just get a new phone, lol. You’d probably enjoy a better experience overall, but I get that that might not be in the cards for you right now.
Instagram Lite is definitely a solid option if you’re mostly just scrolling through your feed. It uses less RAM and battery, so it's perfect for low-end devices. The main downside is that you miss out on some features, like editing reels. But if you’re not really using those features, it shouldn’t be an issue! What’s your phone model? If it's over 2GB RAM from around 2015, switching is a no-brainer.
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend downgrading. The regular app will get updated frequently, and you might find yourself forced to upgrade again just to keep using it. Not ideal!
