Hey everyone! I'm thinking about transitioning to Linux and I've just added a second drive to my computer. I'm planning to dual boot CachyOS from this second drive. I've heard mixed reviews about Windows updates messing things up for dual boot setups. Is this mainly a concern when both operating systems are installed on the same drive, or is it safer with separate drives? I want to keep Windows for now until I get more familiar with Linux. Most of my software and games should work on Linux, except for Microsoft Teams, which I'm hoping to use through the web. Just to give you some context, my setup is pretty recent: Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32GB DDR5 6000, Radeon 9070XT, etc.

With UEFI systems, Windows doesn't interfere with Linux as much as it used to in legacy boot setups. Having the OS on separate disks is definitely the best way to dual boot if you can manage it!
No worries! Windows won't mess with a bootloader that's on a different drive than its own. You're good to go!
Thank you! I'll be installing it sometime this week. Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly!
You can find some Electron wrappers for Microsoft Teams out there. They're third-party, but they might work for you!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into what an Electron wrapper is and try it out after I install Linux. Appreciate it!

Thanks! That’s exactly what I'm planning to do!
