Is Gaming on Linux Viable?

Hey everyone! With all the recent changes from Microsoft, I'm really considering making the switch to Linux. I've been thinking about this for a while now, but I've always been concerned about gaming compatibility. Gaming is basically the main thing I do on my PC, so I want to ensure it works smoothly. I'd like to know how well games run on Linux, specifically my entire Steam library, which includes titles like Rust, Path of Exile 2, and Elden Ring. Here's my current setup:
- AMD Ryzen 9 5950x
- AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
- 64 GB DDR4 RAM at 3200 MHz
- Two separate Samsung SSDs: SSD 870 QVO 2TB and SSD 980 1TB. Any advice?

For game compatibility, check out ProtonDB to see how your games will run on Linux. It's super helpful! Rust can be tricky on many servers, but Elden Ring and Path of Exile 2 work beautifully. I'd suggest using distributions like Cachyos or Bazzite since they're great for gaming situations. If you have any particular titles in mind, checking out 'areweanticheat' can also give you a good read on specific games.

You should be able to play almost your entire Steam library. So far, I haven't found any major games that won't run when using Proton experimental. In my experience, it's way better than gaming on macOS, which only supports about half of what you can get on Steam. Just give Linux a go, and you might be pleasantly surprised!
