Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season! I'm in the process of building a new PC— I know, bad timing with prices spiking— but I just grabbed a 5070ti while the prices were decent. Now I'm looking at RAM options. In my area, a new pair of 2x16GB 6000MHz CL30 sticks costs between $500 and $540. However, I've noticed that there are second-hand listings for 2x16GB 6200-6400MHz sticks with CL32-CL36 latency ranging from $350 to $400. Given these price differences, is it a smart move to go for the higher latency RAM, or should I just stick with the 6000MHz CL30 sticks?

Generally, latency isn't a huge deal for gaming performance. Most people won't notice a big difference, especially with the kind of frame rates you're likely to get.
Honestly, it's not really worth it to go for the higher latency RAM. You might see a 1-2 FPS difference at most, which probably won't matter much, especially with a Ryzen 7800X3D. You should be fine with the CL30 sticks!

Thanks for the input! I'm definitely leaning towards the Ryzen 7800X3D, so that's reassuring!
