Is iCloud Link Sharing Really That Slow?

I've been having issues with iCloud Link Sharing on my iPhone 17 using iOS 16. I tried sending my friend a 7-minute video recorded in 1080p at 60fps, and it still hasn't loaded over forty minutes later. I've paused and resumed syncing, charged my phone while keeping the Photos app open, and even deleted some old videos to free up space, but nothing seems to work. Previously, I sent a few shorter videos, and my friend received them over 28 hours later! I have a fast internet connection with 1Gbps down and 40Mbps up, so what's going on? Is this a common problem, or are there any fixes?

Yeah, it’s pretty normal for videos to take some time to upload to iCloud, but 28 hours for a few clips seems excessive! It really depends on the file sizes and your connection. However, with your good internet speed, the delay does feel pretty off. Maybe it’s worth checking if there are any issues with the iCloud service itself or your settings. If it keeps happening, consider contacting Apple Support.

I agree, that upload time is bizarre! If it's not a service outage, maybe try resetting your network settings or toggling your iCloud settings off and on to refresh the connection.

I feel your pain! I’ve had similar hiccups with iCloud. Sometimes I found that restarting my phone or ensuring I'm on Wi-Fi (not just cellular) helps speed things up. It shouldn't take that long with a decent connection. Frustrating, huh?

Totally! It's like the whole point of having a good connection is wasted if we can't share files quickly. Let’s hope Apple improves this soon.
