Is it better to buy a gaming laptop or build a PC for gaming?

I'm considering an offer from a friend for his gaming laptop that has solid specs: a 3060 graphics card, an Intel Core i7 11370H processor, and 16GB of RAM. I typically play older games like modded Call of Duty: BO3, Left 4 Dead 2, Terraria, and occasionally GTA V. For newer titles, I usually just play them once on my Xbox Series X. I'm looking at paying $500 for this laptop, which is a big step up from my current GTX 1050 laptop that's struggling to run BO3 even at low settings and 720p. My main question is whether I could build a desktop PC with similar or better specs for that price instead?

I agree, the laptop is a solid option! Building a used PC in that price range would be challenging. You might find something on Facebook Marketplace, but it's a gamble. The laptop should serve your needs perfectly!

Totally! I saw a decent desktop with a 2070 for about $550, but it was a bit sketchy, so I passed. Stick with the laptop!

Honestly, for $500, the laptop is a really good deal. It's tough to find better specs in a desktop build at that price point. Just go for the laptop!
