Is it better to limit my monitor’s refresh rate to 120Hz if I’m only hitting 120FPS?

Hey everyone! I have an MSI MAG271QPX QD-OLED E2 with a 240Hz refresh rate, but I mostly play RPG games that cap at 120FPS. Should I keep the refresh rate at 240Hz, or is it better to limit it to 120Hz since that's what I'm getting?

You should definitely keep the refresh rate at 240Hz! Your monitor has Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which means it can adjust its refresh rate to match your game’s FPS. Just enable VRR in your GPU settings, and you'll be all set!

Just out of curiosity, what kind of cable are you using for your monitor? It’s important for getting the best refresh rates at higher FPS.

I'm using DisplayPort 1.4.

Totally agree! Unless you’re into competitive gaming, the difference is super minimal. Keep the refresh rate at 240Hz and just adjust your in-game FPS settings as needed. Just remember, running it at a higher refresh rate might use more power, but it’s worth it for casual play!
