Is It Normal for a 24-Pin Motherboard Power Cable to Be Missing a Wire?

I recently bought a brand new BeQuiet Pure Power 13M 750W power supply, and I noticed that one end of the power cable going to the motherboard is missing one wire, making it 23 out of 24. Is this normal?

Yes, it's completely normal to see that. Check out this article for more details: [Corsair Help Link](https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/27358102822669-PSU-Why-is-there-a-missing-Pin-on-my-PSU-cable)

Haha, I asked ChatGPT about it too, and it was all over the place!

Yes, it's totally normal! The missing wire is the -5V wire, which is no longer part of the ATX specs. Modern systems don’t use that pin anymore, so don’t worry about it!

Thanks for clearing that up! So just to confirm, I should still plug this 23-pin end into the motherboard, right?

You're right, the -5V wire was used in older systems when ISA slots were common. Most modern power supplies don't include it. You're good to go with plugging it into your motherboard!

Awesome! Does it matter if the other end still has all 24 pins, or is that fine?
