I recently got a new laptop and I've noticed that when it's charging, touching the body and back creates a light electric 'buzz' sensation on my fingers. This can be quite irritating. I've seen similar issues with some MacBooks too. Is this a common issue? Can it be resolved?

It’s definitely not how a laptop should function. You ought to have a three-prong power supply which ensures proper grounding. If you’re feeling any electrical current, there’s likely an issue within the laptop itself.
Feeling that buzzing sensation isn’t normal at all. It generally indicates that there’s an issue with the grounding of your laptop. If it's not grounded properly, it can lead to electric shocks or buzzing feelings when you touch it.
A common reason for feeling a buzz is using a two-pronged charger since it doesn't provide a proper ground. This can allow a small electric current to build up on the body of the laptop. While a bit annoying, it's pretty commonplace for ungrounded devices.
Are you sure it's electricity and not just vibrations? My Asus Z13 gives off a buzzing sensation when I game, thanks to the fans. Sometimes it could even be the texture of the chassis. But if you’re consistently feeling it, it’s worth investigating.
Most likely, your laptop isn't properly grounded. There might also be a short in the circuit board causing that sensation. You should definitely check on that and possibly consult a professional if the problem persists.
Yeah, that’s true! It's pretty normal for devices without proper grounding to have that effect.
