Is It Normal to Have a Gap Between the Motherboard and Screws?

I'm trying to secure my motherboard, but I've noticed there's a gap between the screws and the motherboard. I can't seem to tighten them any further, and I'm wondering if this is normal. Here's a link to an image I took: [imgur.com/a/RVhP9Nh](http://imgur.com/a/RVhP9Nh). Has anyone else experienced this?

It sounds like you might be using screws that aren't suitable for the motherboard. Those might be screws meant for things like the PSU or GPU instead. Standoff screws are generally smaller, so double-check those.

I tried the smaller screws, but they won't go in either. They just tighten a bit and then stop, and I can still twist them with my hand.

That gap is usually not a good sign. Have you checked if you might be crossthreading? That's when the screw isn't aligned right and can mess things up. Also, are the screws you're using the right type for your motherboard? Sometimes the wrong ones can lead to issues.

I think I'm using the right screws, but I'm not too sure what crossthreading means.
