Is It Okay to Install AIO Cooler Tubes on Top in My Case?

I've got a Coolermaster Silencio 452 case and recently picked up a bequiet Silent Loop 3 240mm AIO cooler. The case only allows for one primary installation method, which places the tubes on top, probably at or below the pump height. I've seen some official images showing this setup as well. I've heard this configuration may not be the best for AIO coolers due to air bubbles potentially affecting performance. Can I use this setup until I change cases in a year or two, and will it last five years without issues? I've had this case for about eight years, originally got it for a Ryzen 5 1600x, and now I'm on a 5900x. I switched to the AIO for quieter operation, but the case just can't accommodate larger radiators.

If you haven't already bought the AIO, I'd suggest considering a better air cooler instead. From what I see in the case design, an AIO might not be practical here at all.

For optimal performance, you should mount the cooler on top of the case rather than sideways. This setup ensures better flow and cooling, regardless of the pump position.

Aesthetically, AIO coolers are great, but you can often find air coolers that perform just as well, are cheaper, and are more reliable. If you're looking for longevity and efficiency, an air cooler might be the way to go!

It's really important to avoid having the pump as the highest point in your loop. This can cause air bubbles to collect in the pump, leading to inconsistent flow and even damaging your cooler over time. I strongly recommend switching to a different case as soon as possible, especially if you want your setup to last. Good cases are available for under $100!

Thanks for the great advice! I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I'll start looking for a better case.

Honestly, whoever designed that case mount probably didn’t consider AIO functionality properly. It's best if the pump isn't the highest point, but if you can angle the tubes up after the pump, you might be okay—though it's not ideal. If you want a quick fix, you could always flip the case upside down, but honestly, a case upgrade would solve your problems better in the long run!

Haha, I like the upside-down idea, but I think I'll play it safe and just get a new case instead.
