Is it okay to wait on getting a dedicated GPU for my new PC?

Hey everyone! I'm a web development student preparing to build a PC for both school and some gaming. I'm considering a setup with a Ryzen 9 9950X, MSI X870E MAG Tomahawk motherboard, and a G.Skill 32GB DDR5 RAM bundle. My question is, can I use this setup with only the CPU and motherboard on two monitors for a couple of weeks before buying a dedicated GPU, like a 4060? Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Absolutely! Check out Microcenter for open box deals. You might find a 3060 or a 6600 for under $200. It can be a great way to save some cash while you build your PC.

Thanks for the tip! I'm totally open to picking up a budget GPU for now and upgrading later.

You can totally use the integrated graphics for now. It’s possible to do some light gaming on it too! Just keep in mind that your motherboard only offers one GPU output, so you'll be limited to a single monitor unless you plan on getting an HDMI Matrix Switch if you want dual monitor support.

I suggest getting a less expensive CPU and motherboard to free up some budget for a better GPU instead. You want a solid graphics card if you're gaming, and it might be better to prioritize that.

What's the reasoning behind that? I'm aiming for a higher-end build eventually, just trying to spread the cost out a bit. Right now, I'm on an old ThinkPad, so this seems like a start while I transition.

You can definitely get by with a decent setup for now. Just make sure you plan on that GPU upgrade soon if gaming is your goal!
