My cell phone's motherboard has burnt out, and I've already visited a couple of repair shops, but they said they can't fix it. I'm in a tough spot because it contains a lot of important data that I desperately need to recover. Does anyone know if there's any way to retrieve the memory or data from a phone in this situation?

You might be able to find a data recovery expert who can perform component-level repairs, like swapping out faulty parts from another board. Just remember, these services can be costly, and there's no guarantee your data will be recovered. It's crucial to have a backup plan for the future!

Recovering data from a burnt motherboard isn't easy. You'll need to send it to a data recovery center that has the right gear to desolder the memory chips or read the flash chips directly. If your phone had any sort of password or lock screen, that data is likely encrypted and may be very difficult to recover depending on what parts are damaged.

Honestly, you may need to prepare for the worst. Depending on the extent of the damage, even a professional recovery might not salvage anything, and it's likely going to be expensive, too. It's a harsh reminder of the importance of regular backups.

A specialized data recovery company could help, but be prepared for costs between $1,000 to $2,000. It's a tough lesson on why backing up your data is so critical. Have you checked if your files could have been automatically backed up using Google or another service?
