Is it possible to recover data from a USB stick after a full format?

I'm curious if a USB stick can still have its data recovered after it's been fully formatted, provided that no new data has been added. Does a full format make recovery significantly harder compared to a quick format?

Absolutely! I helped a friend recover data after a full format. As long as you haven't overwritten anything or purposely erased it, you can often retrieve it without too much trouble using the right recovery software.

Yep, it's definitely doable as long as the USB stick hasn't been used after the format. The less you touch it, the better your chances. I personally found EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard pretty helpful—it has some free options, though a lot of robust tools are more geared toward Linux users without fancy interfaces.

You're spot on! Formatting just masks the data. Windows has its own features that can wipe drives completely, but many recovery tools can help you access what's still there.

Generally, a quick format makes recovery easier because it just clears the file table but leaves the data intact. A full format, however, is trickier since it usually results in more data being overwritten. That said, there might still be some chances of partial recovery if nothing new has been written to the drive.

For the best results, I recommend using a Linux distribution; they often have better recovery options than Windows. Just keep that in mind!

You might want to give TestDisk a shot—it's a handy tool for recovery!
