Is It Safe to Change My Boot Settings with BitLocker Enabled?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to change the boot settings on my Windows 11 laptop so that it utilizes all 4 processors instead of just 1 for better performance. However, I encountered a pop-up that says, "BitLocker Drive Encryption is enabled on your OS drive. Because these changes modify the machine's boot settings, the machine will enter recovery mode at next boot and you will need to provide a BitLocker recovery key or recovery password. Are you sure you want to proceed?" I already have my BitLocker recovery key, but I want to check if proceeding with this change could risk data loss, corruption, or any damage to my laptop. Would really appreciate your insights! 🙂

It's generally safe to proceed with the BitLocker change, especially since you have your recovery key ready. However, just a heads up – changing BIOS settings or disk configurations can potentially lead to data loss, so make sure your backups are up to date before you make any changes!

Just to clarify, your laptop should already be using all cores by default. If you're trying to change settings in System Configuration to use 4 processors, that typically shouldn’t be necessary as Windows handles that automatically. I'd say proceed but be cautious about the other changes you're making.

Thanks for that clarification! I double-checked and it turns out all 4 cores are indeed working, which I realized after posting. I guess tweaking those settings isn't really needed!
