I've been wondering about installing Neofetch. Is it really safe? Does it access system files or pose any risks?

Honestly, Neofetch is fine, but it's discontinued. You should really try Fastfetch or maybe even screenFetch or NerdFetch. Those are good options too! Neofetch doesn't access your files in a risky way, so you're all good on that front.

I wish those were in the default repos though, Neofetch is so easy to get!

If it’s in your distro’s repositories, it’s generally considered safe. Plus, you could even check the source code yourself if you're curious! Just remember, Neofetch is a bit outdated now, so alternatives like Fastfetch are recommended.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely check the alternatives.

Yeah, Neofetch is safe to install! It does need to access some system files to show your system info, but there are no known risks. However, I've heard that it's been retired, so you might want to check out Fastfetch instead – it’s a solid alternative.

Thanks for clarifying! I’ll look into Fastfetch.
