My PC case has feet that raise it slightly above the floor, but the bottom-mounted power supply takes in air from underneath. The carpet is thin and not particularly fluffy, and only part of the case is sitting on it. Is this safe, or should I put the computer on a stand or platform?

Make sure every intake has unobstructed space, especially the bottom PSU fan and any bottom case fans. Don’t place the case directly on soft carpet, and avoid changing the power supply’s orientation unless the case and PSU specifically support it. A flat, rigid board is the safest inexpensive solution.
A simple platform is still a good idea. A scrap board, small cart, sturdy box, or low stand under all four feet will improve airflow and keep the case farther from dust without needing anything fancy.
It’s generally safe as long as the case feet leave a clear gap and the carpet isn’t blocking the power supply intake. The bigger concern is dust and lint, since a computer on the floor will collect more debris. Check and clean the dust filters regularly.
Even raising it a few inches can make a noticeable difference. Computers left directly on the floor often need cleaning every few months, while a raised platform can significantly reduce how quickly dust builds up.
