I currently have 16GB of RAM but I was recently gifted two additional sticks. They have the same DDR type and voltage, but the only difference is their CAS latency (CL). I'm concerned about whether it's safe to combine these different brands and if I risk damaging my setup. I want to make sure everything runs smoothly without any issues.

You can definitely give it a try! There’s usually no risk of damaging your setup, but the compatibility isn't guaranteed. With DDR4, there’s a good chance it’ll work, though you might not reach the XMP speeds you’re hoping for.
If you’re using DDR4, mixing RAM sticks of different brands usually works fine, but they’ll run at the speed of the slower stick. Since you mentioned they have different CAS latencies, just keep in mind that this can affect performance, especially if you’re planning to overclock. It’s a good idea to start with conservative settings and test for stability. Better yet, ensure you know how to reset your CMOS just in case things go south!
As long as it's DDR4, mixing two different sticks shouldn’t fry anything. Just remember, you're likely to run at the speed of the slowest RAM. In terms of performance, it might handle okay, but just don’t expect to achieve any advertised speeds if you’re using four sticks together.

Got it! I’ll start with the lower latency stick in the furthest slot and run some stability tests. Appreciate the tips!
