My iPhone 13 took a dip in the toilet, and I need some advice on fixing it. I saw a video suggesting you can use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the water, but I'm unsure if that's a good idea. Can anyone clarify if this method is safe or what I should do instead?

If your vacuum is a wet/dry model and you switch it to the 'wet' mode, it might work, but for an average household vacuum, it’s a no-go. You don’t want water getting in.
I wouldn't recommend using a vacuum at all. The internal components of your phone are delicate, and the vacuum's power might cause more harm than good. Instead, let your phone rest for a few days. You can also consider soaking it gently in isopropyl alcohol (like 99% pure) to help clear out any water.
I may try that! For now, it's sitting in front of a fan on a cloth. Definitely avoiding the vacuum!
Have you had any repairs on the phone before? Assuming the screen hasn't been removed, it’s pretty resilient against such accidents. But definitely, avoid that vacuum! Let it dry out, and consider placing it in front of a fan. And remember, don’t plug it in until the Lightning port is thoroughly dry.
I've never had any repairs done. Just a quick question, how do I properly sanitize my phone after this?
Your iPhone 13 is designed to be water-resistant, so it should handle a short dip in the toilet without too much trouble. If any water did get inside, soaking it briefly in rubbing alcohol can help displace the water. Just make sure to let it dry out completely in a well-ventilated space before trying to turn it on again.
For anyone curious, this is the video that suggested using a vacuum: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEjC0Ude8CA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEjC0Ude8CA)

Unfortunately, I'm just using a regular household vacuum. Thanks for the heads-up!
