I'm planning to build a new PC this year and I've got a Corsair RM850i power supply that I received for free. The catch is that it's from 2017 and still in its original box. Given that the 10-year warranty is nearing its end, should I be worried about using it for my new build since it's been stored for such a long time?

Some components like electrolytic capacitors could have aged even if the PSU hasn't been used. It may not perform as well as it once did, and it hasn’t been tested since it left the factory. It might be risky to rely on it for expensive new parts unless you test it first.
Definitely look into the protection features of the PSU. Old PSUs might lack the newer protections that come with updated models. If it's not a high-end PSU, you might want to consider getting a new one.
If the PSU is a quality one and has enough wattage for your setup, it should be fine to use. I've picked up a used EVGA 1000W gold PSU and it has been running great for me! Just keep an eye on the specs.
Consider buying a power supply tester for about $10-$15. It's a great investment to check if your PSU is working properly before you plug it into your new build.
Honestly, it should be fine to use, but check to make sure the fan is working well. As long as the oil in the fan bearing isn’t gummed up, you should be good!
