Hey folks! I'm getting ready to upgrade my setup with a 9800X3D and some new RAM and motherboard. I'll be holding on to my 2080 Ti for a little longer since the current GPU market is insane. I've had this card since 2018 and have never repasted it. Should I consider repasting it before I install it in the new PC? Also, will I need new thermal pads? I have a background in IT and have worked with electronics a lot, so I'm comfortable with the process.

First, check the temperatures. If they're hitting the high 70s or above, then yes, repasting might be a good idea. Otherwise, I wouldn't stress it too much.
If temperatures are above average or if you're experiencing throttling during heavy workloads, definitely consider repasting. Using a high-quality thermal paste is key, and don't forget about the thermal pads—losing those could lead to issues later on!
Unless your GPU is overheating or crashing, I'd leave it alone. It's probably fine as is!
I recommend doing it! It's probably a bit dried out by now, and getting fresh thermal pads could help too. Plus, it's a good opportunity to clean out any dust.
You could repaste just for the fun of it, but only if you've got the time and resources. If it's running well, maybe don't mess with it unless it really needs it. Overheating while gaming is usually a good reason to repaste though!
If your temps are looking good, don't bother. I repasted my 4090 and got a decent temp drop, but it really depends on your specific card.

Exactly! No point in fixing something that's not broken.
