I've been using my RTX 2080 for about four years now, and I've recently upgraded my PC with an Intel i5-12400 and a MSI 32UPX monitor. I'm considering whether I should invest in a new GPU in the $1500 range. Are the newer models going to provide enough performance improvement to justify an upgrade?

Upgrading really depends on what you’re playing. If you’re focused on high-action FPS games at 1440p, a new GPU will help. But for casual gaming, your 2080 should still be sufficient.
If your RTX 2080 still meets your gaming needs, you might not need to upgrade just yet. But if you're looking for better frame rates or higher settings in new games, it could be worth it to look into newer GPUs.
Definitely check out some benchmarks. If the new cards show a significant performance boost in the games you enjoy, it might justify the upgrade. But if your current setup works fine for you, maybe hold off for now.
If you've got the budget, I'd recommend going for a 9070 XT or a 5070 Ti. Honestly, the 5080 isn't really worth it unless you're looking for a marginal performance upgrade. You'll likely save money by choosing one of the other options that still offer solid performance.
Thanks for the tip! I'll look into the 9070 XT more.
Ask yourself this: Are you feeling like you need more performance? If the answer is no, then I don’t see a reason to upgrade. Also, keep in mind that a super high-end GPU might be bottlenecked by your current CPU.
I'd lean toward the 9070 XT. It generally has better driver stability, plus it's a beast for 1440p gaming. You'll get more bang for your buck with that card!
