Is it time to upgrade my 17-year-old power supply?

I've been using an Enermax Pro 82+ power supply since 2008, and I'm starting to wonder if it's time to replace it. Considering its age, is there a real risk that it could fail and damage other components? Should I replace it now, or can I keep using it until it breaks?

Anything that old has a higher chance of failing. It's good that you're keeping it clean, but I’d strongly recommend considering a new PSU. When you shop for a replacement, look for one with good efficiency ratings and plenty of output power to match your components. Safety first!

Thanks for the tips! I want something reliable this time—any particular brands you recommend?

Yeah, if that power supply fails, it could definitely damage other parts of your setup. It's wise to think about upgrading, especially since it's been over 17 years. You really don’t want to risk frying anything else when it finally goes.
