Is it time to upgrade my 3080? What should I get instead?

I bought an MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 when it first came out, and it's been great for me. However, after 5 years, games are starting to feel a bit too demanding, and I'm considering an upgrade. Normally, I wouldn't even think about it since I mostly play Monster Hunter Wilds and I'm fine lowering the graphics for better FPS. But my girlfriend's got an older GPU (either a 1060 or 1070), and she's struggling to play comfortably. So, I'm thinking about getting a new card for myself and passing my 3080 to her. Given the current crazy prices, is it worth upgrading right now? And if so, what would be the most cost-effective option? I'm considering a decent upgrade, but I don't want to go overboard—maybe a 5070 Ti or 5080? Any advice would be super helpful!

Looking at the current market, the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT are your best bets for upgrades. They offer around 45% better performance than what you have now, which is pretty solid! Just keep in mind that prices are high due to tariffs, but these options are worth it for the performance boost.

You don't have to stick with NVIDIA if you don't want to. If you're not using features like DLSS or CUDA, I recommend looking at Radeon GPUs. I’ve been using a 7900 XT, and I love it! I snagged it for about $850, and it’s been an excellent value.
