I'm currently running a self-built PC with a Ryzen 7 5700x CPU, an RTX 5070 GPU, an X570 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, and 64 GB of DDR4 3200 RAM. I'm starting to feel like my CPU might be a bit outdated. I want to avoid buying a new motherboard since that would mean getting new RAM as well. I'm considering whether I should upgrade to a Ryzen 9 from the same generation or just stick with what I have. Is it worth upgrading, given my current specs? Also, I've been thinking about trying custom water cooling; is that a good idea?

No need to stress about upgrading right now! The Ryzen 5xxx series is still really powerful, and your 5700x will hold up for a while. Focus on enjoying your games instead of feeling like you need to upgrade.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with an upgrade. You're not bottlenecking anything, so just stick with what you've got. And I wouldn't recommend jumping into liquid cooling either; it can be a hassle if you're not experienced.

What are the downsides of water cooling that I should know about?
