Is it Time to Upgrade My GTX 1060 3GB for Better Performance?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 3600X paired with a GTX 1060 3GB VRAM and 32GB DDR4 RAM, all on a B450 AORUS M motherboard. While I'm not into heavy gaming, I did beat Elden Ring on this setup, but I feel like the GPU is holding me back, especially for video editing and 3D modeling. With GPU prices skyrocketing recently, particularly the newer models, I'm trying to figure out if I should upgrade my GPU now or wait for better pricing in a couple of years. Any advice on whether I should go for an upgrade soon or stick it out with my current rig?

Honestly, both your CPU and GPU could use an upgrade. I’d recommend upgrading the GPU first since prices are getting wild. Maybe consider a used one; even older cards will perform better and are affordable right now!

If money isn't a massive concern, I suggest upgrading. For video editing, having a better GPU makes a difference. But if you can manage for a bit longer, it might be worth waiting for better deals. If video editing is crucial for you, that’s a factor to consider.

I appreciate that! I’ve been fine for a decade, so I'm wondering if waiting for prices to drop would be better for me.

You’re totally held back by that 3GB of VRAM. Look for a used RTX 3060 Ti; it’s a solid option that won’t break the bank and gives you a nice boost in performance without too much hassle.
