Is it time to upgrade my home PC for gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm stuck in a bit of a dilemma about whether to upgrade my home PC or not. I mainly play games like Zenless Zone Zero, Persona 5: The Phantom X, Valorant, and occasionally fighting games like Mortal Kombat, plus Expedition 33. My current specs are: Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) with 1.11 TB of storage. I've heard from my friend that my GPU is pretty outdated, but my sibling, who uses the PC more, thinks it's fine. I want my setup to run smoothly enough for gaming without lagging. What do you think?

I’m actually surprised you can even play Expedition 33 with your current setup; that’s a demanding game! If you can’t afford a full upgrade, consider looking for a secondhand GPU. Even an upgrade to a used card like a 2060 or 3060 would be better than what you have now.

If you're looking to upgrade, and price isn’t a major concern, I’d say go for it. New GPUs are worthwhile, but keep in mind, your motherboard, CPU, GPU, and memory should all be swapped for a proper upgrade, otherwise you'll run into issues.

Your PC is decent for older games, but with a GPU that’s nearly a decade old and Windows 10 not too far from its end of life, it might be time for an upgrade if you want smoother gameplay with newer titles.

What are the signs we might notice before it fully gives out though? Is it just super laggy?

It really depends on your experience while gaming. If you’re noticing lag, then an upgrade is definitely worth considering. But if your sibling feels it's working fine for their needs, maybe it's alright for now. Just remember, it is getting pretty old.

Totally get that! It’s like driving a really old car, right? Sometimes it's just not up for tough rides!

Setting a budget is key, but definitely consider upgrading to a better GPU. Your current setup won’t cut it for the likes of Expedition 33.
