Is it time to upgrade my PC for playing Oblivion Remastered?

I've got an RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB VRAM, an i5 11400 CPU, 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and a 2TB M.2 SSD, all running on a 4K 60Hz Asus monitor. However, I'm finding that Oblivion Remastered is really slowing down my system. I'm wondering if it's time to consider an upgrade. What would be a good budget-friendly upgrade option to improve my gaming experience?

If you want to future-proof yourself for UE5 games or even just get better frame rates, then yeah, an upgrade is necessary. Trying to play at 4K with this card is pretty rough, though it can manage some games with DLSS. But for the new titles, even dropping down to 1440p can be tough, sometimes.

I’ve had decent luck with older games at 4K, but the latest ones definitely push the limits.

Honestly, if you're trying to run games in 4K, the 3060 Ti isn’t cut out for that. I’d recommend playing at 1080p instead. You might need to lower the settings significantly to get better performance. That's just the reality with this card in high-demand games like Oblivion Remastered.

Yeah, even at 1080p it doesn't perform as well as you'd hope. Might be better to look at some options for a serious upgrade.

I’m on a 3060 Ti too but definitely looking to upgrade. I’ve noticed it struggles with some newer games, especially in Unreal Engine 5. I get micro stutters unless I drop the settings down to Low. Patches might help, but I wouldn't count on it improving significantly.

Have you decided on what GPU you want to upgrade to?

It really depends on the frame rates and resolution you want versus your budget. If you’re just looking for 1080p gaming at higher settings, you might not need to splurge too much, but if you want to tackle 4K properly or stay ahead of the curve, think bigger.
