Is it time to upgrade my PC or just stick with my PS5 Pro?

Hey everyone! I decided against building a new PC last summer and went with a PS5 Pro instead, but I'm really starting to feel that itch to upgrade. I'm a graphic design and multimedia teacher as well as a freelance artist, and while I've used grant money for upgrades before, I held off recently because of those crazy GPU prices. I really miss using my PC to game with friends, and my attic setup gets super hot in the summer. My RTX 2080 has also been a pain with needing thermal paste replacements, which I'd rather avoid in the future. I've got around €1500 to work with and want something that can handle 1080p and 1440p gaming for a few years. Plus, I'm looking to swap out my ultrawide Alienware monitor for two regular ones. Any advice or recommendations? Thanks a bunch!

GPU prices are pretty nuts right now. A 3080 Ti or 4070 Ti could work great for your needs!

How’s your 2080 doing, though? Still running well?

It's functioning fine, though I've had to deal with heating issues. Just formatted my PC and plan to use it for a new game soon.

It’s always a good time to switch from console to PC since you’ll be free from paying for online gaming! Just make sure to check out PCPartPicker for custom builds within your budget. Just a heads up, avoid Alienware for future upgrades; they don’t have standard parts.

I don’t dislike consoles, but I see your point. I might just have a company build something for me since I’ve done that before.

Honestly, it’s definitely a worse time to buy than last summer, but if you wait until next summer, it could be even pricier. It’s a tough market right now!

Yeah, I’m in Europe too—maybe it's not as bad here as in the States?

What country are you in? There might be better deals depending on where you are.

I put together a list on PCPartPicker for you! Check it out: [Build List](https://be.pcpartpicker.com/list/r9w8sp). It totals about €1640, including shipping. I opted for a 7700X over the x3D variants since it’s better for productivity and much cheaper! It should handle 1440p gaming well for years. If you need a powerful CPU for design and editing, consider the 9900X or 9950X. What other uses do you have for the PC besides gaming?
