Hey everyone! I'm debating whether I should upgrade to AM5, which would mean getting a new motherboard, RAM, and CPU like the 9600X, or just buy a new CPU like the 5800X.
Here's my current setup: Ryzen 3600, RTX 3060 Vision OC 12 GB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, and a B450M Asrock Steel Legend motherboard. I built this rig at the beginning of the pandemic, and I've been holding off on a major upgrade. I use my PC daily for gaming, data analysis, productivity, and photo editing, and I'm looking to upgrade for better performance and overall quality of life.
What would you guys do, and what's the best value for my money?

Both options will give you noticeable improvements since the core performance of the 3600 is lagging behind current standards. I recommend upgrading to an AM5 chip, like a 7000 series; they're reasonably priced and give you a significant boost in performance.
If you've got the budget, going AM5 is definitely worth it! It'll maximize the potential of a new GPU too.
Thanks! I'm leaning towards AM5 as well. I plan to grab a new GPU next year, but the pricing here in NZ is pretty rough right now. Cheers!
Finding the 5800X at a decent price is becoming tricky, but if you stumble upon a good deal, it's definitely a solid upgrade. However, AM5 might offer better long-term value since the prices on AM4 chips are going up.
I can get the 5800X for about 375.28-400 NZD, which is similar to the 7600X. I love my AM4 setup, but I’m worried I’ll have to make the jump to AM5 in the next year.
Thank you for the advice! I'm thinking the 7600X might be the way to go since it's more accessible for me. Appreciate your help!
