I'm planning to build a new PC for my girlfriend and I want to make sure I choose the right parts, especially since her budget is pretty tight. I'm thinking of using an older AM4 CPU, but I'm concerned about how future-proof that would be. Is it a good idea, or should I be more worried about the upgrade possibilities down the line?

I've still got an AM4 setup and I can't complain! I'm thinking of skipping the AM5 and waiting for the AM6 myself. It should serve well for a while yet.
Same here, I'm using a 5800X3D with a 5090. It's still solid!

I've got a 5800X3D with a 4080 and it's performing great for me!
