Hey everyone! I have a Crucial MX300 SATA SSD (275GB) and a Crucial P2 M.2 NVMe (1TB). I'm upgrading my CPU and planning to reinstall Windows. Currently, Windows is installed on the NVMe drive, but I'm considering installing it on the older SATA SSD to free up space for games on the NVMe drive. Do you think that's a good idea? Would using the SATA SSD affect Windows' response times when opening apps and such? My current desktop experience is really smooth, and I want to avoid any lag or performance drops. If installing Windows on the SATA would slow things down, I might just get a bigger 2TB NVMe drive instead. Thanks for any advice!

You should be fine installing Windows on the SATA SSD. It’ll work without major issues, especially since the MX300 has DRAM. Just keep in mind that while the SATA will be a bit slower than the NVMe, for general everyday tasks, the difference might be minimal. You might notice a 3-5 second difference in boot time, but that’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
