I'm currently using four 8GB RAM sticks in my PC, and I'm considering whether it would make financial sense to switch to two 16GB sticks. While I know I'd just be making a sideways upgrade in terms of total RAM capacity, I'm curious if the current prices for DDR4 RAM make it easier for me to make this change. What do you think?

If you're planning on adding more RAM in the future, switching could be worth it. But from a performance standpoint, unless you're improving timing or something similar, you might want to stick with what you've got.
Honestly, I don't see much value in that change. Even if the prices are similar, you'll likely end up spending money on new RAM, and selling your old sticks might not give you a great return. This switch only makes sense if you got the 4x8GB sticks for free.
Why do you want to switch? Are you having any issues with your current RAM setup?
