Is It Worth Switching from 96GB to 64GB of RAM?

Hey everyone! I currently have 96GB of Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM (2x48GB) running at 5600MHz with CL46. I'm considering downgrading to 64GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RGB (2x32GB) that operates at 6000MHz with CL30. My main questions are: would such a downgrade be beneficial for me, or am I just wasting time and money? For context, I use my PC mostly for gaming and watching videos, but I occasionally do some Photoshop work and video editing.

Honestly, if you're mostly gaming, 96GB is probably overkill unless you're really pushing it with multitasking or heavy apps. Switching to faster RAM like the 6000MHz CL30 could actually boost your performance. But it’s all about whether you need that extra capacity. If you rarely hit 64GB, I’d say go for the swap!

Yeah, I mostly game too and I never hit those limits, so faster RAM sounds like the smart move.

The sweet spot for most gaming setups tends to be around 6000MHz CL30. If you can switch without losing money, it makes sense to try the faster option! Personally, I would have opted for a fast 96GB kit, but that's just my preference. Swap it out if it’s affordable!

I could return my 96GB kit and grab the 64GB for around a 120€ profit. Sounds like a great deal to me!

Definitely check your current RAM usage. If you consistently stay below 64GB, then the performance increase from faster RAM could help. Generally speaking, for gaming and everyday tasks, 64GB is just fine.

I don’t have my usage data on me right now, but I’m sure I’m not even pushing 64GB. Seems like a good time to downgrade!
