Hey everyone! I'm not the best when it comes to computer parts, but I'm considering upgrading from my 3070 Ti to a 5070. I know the 5070 will definitely be more powerful, but I'm unsure of how significant the improvement will be. I've been pretty satisfied with my 3070 Ti, but after buying an ultra-wide monitor that runs at 3440x1440, it struggles a bit with performance and gets pretty hot. Will the 5070 provide better graphics performance and, crucially, generate less heat? Also, my motherboard is a B550 Gaming X AX DDR4—will that work fine with a 5070?

You won't have any issues with your motherboard and a 5070. I run a 5070 Ti and after hours of gaming, my GPU never exceeded 54°C. If you pick a good version, it ensures lower temps. In benchmarks, the 5070 shows a nice performance jump over the 3070 Ti, plus it draws less power—65W less while gaming! If I were you, I’d consider saving a bit more for the 5070 Ti for more longevity.
If you're looking for a performance boost, going from a 3060 Ti to a 5070 Ti doubled my performance! I'd say go for a 5070 Ti or even the 5080 if you can swing it.
For sure! The 5070 Ti is tempting, but it's pretty pricey too. Still, I might look into it!
Honestly, I'd recommend holding out for at least a 5070 Ti or maybe consider a 9070 XT. The 5070 has only 12GB of VRAM, which could limit you at that resolution. Firstly, make sure your CPU and the rest of your components are up to par too, plus check that your PSU can handle a more powerful card.
Good point! If you want to stick with NVIDIA, what other cards would you consider?
You might want to watch some benchmarks to see the difference. The B550 motherboard will definitely support the 5070. It should be a worthwhile upgrade, but research is key!
Thanks! The motherboard part was my main concern.
What CPU and how much VRAM are you using now? Your PSU should be fine, but it's good to double-check!
I’ve got an i7 12700K, so that's decent. It has 8GB VRAM now, which bumps to 12GB with the 5070, and my PSU is 850.
Thanks for the thorough response! This helps a lot.
