Is it Worth Upgrading from AM4 to AM5 for Gaming?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 3700X with 32GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM and an RTX 4070. I mainly play ARC Raiders, Fortnite, and League of Legends. However, I want to dive into Red Dead 2 and play Fortnite more competitively.

I'm considering whether to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 7600X3D, along with an Asus Rog motherboard and DDR5 6000MHz RAM, which would cost around $550. While I'm tempted by the upgrade, I'm unsure if it's truly worth it given the prices right now.

I've also looked into the 5700X3D, but it's priced at about $300 just for the CPU. It seems for an extra $200, I could jump to AM5 and potentially see better performance. Micro Center has the 7600X3D for $229, and bundled deals are available too.

I'd appreciate any recommendations based on my current AM4 setup.

Honestly, unless you have money to spare, upgrading may not be necessary right now. You could also look into other upgrades like an OLED monitor instead of a full CPU upgrade. I have a similar setup to yours with a Ryzen 9 5950X and it's still performing great without any major upgrades!

Honestly, with RAM prices being what they are, I'd recommend holding off on upgrades for now if you don’t urgently need them. Stick with your AM4 setup for the time being and wait for RAM prices to drop a bit before making any big changes.

Just a heads up, a 5700X3D isn’t going to be a huge leap from what you have now. If you’re not looking to spend big bucks, maybe just stick with what you have for now.

Your current setup should be more than capable for Red Dead 2 or competitive Fortnite, especially if you're gaming at 1080p. If you're aiming for high refresh rates at 4K, then yes, consider the upgrade. But if that's not the case, you might not need to rush into it.

If it were me, I'd definitely go for the AM5 upgrade. It can really make a noticeable difference in FPS and overall performance. Just make sure to choose a decent B850 motherboard to save some cash!

Absolutely, an AM5 system will definitely provide smoother frame rates and a better gaming experience overall!
