Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a 4060 GPU but I've noticed that my CPU seems to be lagging behind, possibly even failing as my performance has really dropped. I'm considering whether I should upgrade the CPU, and I'm curious about my options. What CPU should I be looking at for my current setup, and do I need to think about getting a new motherboard and RAM too?

You can put an i9-9900K in your motherboard, but don't expect a massive boost in performance. Honestly, you might want to consider a whole new setup with a new CPU, motherboard, and probably RAM. By the way, what's your budget looking like?

Before you jump into upgrades, check if it's actually your CPU that's causing issues. It could be dust blocking your cooler. If you can afford it, an i7-8700 would work with your current motherboard, but if it’s over $125, I'd suggest replacing both the CPU and motherboard.
