Hey everyone! I just got a pre-built PC featuring a Ryzen 7 9700x and an RTX 5050. I've been running most games on High at 1080p pretty smoothly. However, my friends are telling me that I should sell my 5050 and upgrade to a 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM. I'm curious if the performance boost is really worth the $100 investment, or if I should just stick with the RTX 5050 for now?

For $100, I’d say go for it. The upgrade can provide a decent performance boost!

It’s impressive to see a Ryzen 7 9700x paired with a 5050! Upgrading to a 5060 Ti would certainly balance things out better, enhancing your overall gaming experience, but just keep in mind it'll be an extra expense.

Honestly, I would stick with your current setup if everything is running well. There's no need to future-proof if the machine was a gift. Enjoy your new rig and have fun gaming!

Thanks for the input! I do worry a bit about the 8GB VRAM sometimes bottlenecking the performance, but I'm really grateful for this setup and just want to make sure it lasts me a while.

If you have the means, upgrading to a 5060 Ti could be worth it! I made a similar upgrade from a 4060 to a 5060 Ti, and it made a noticeable difference. Just weigh your options and see what works for your budget!

I’d suggest checking out benchmarks and current prices to see how they stack up against each other. Consider your gaming needs too; if you're satisfied with your current performance at 1080p, it might not be worth spending the cash on an upgrade just yet. Think about what makes sense for your gaming style!

You'd gain about 30% more performance by switching to the 5060 Ti, plus the extra VRAM is great for future-proofing. It's definitely something to think about if you're willing to spend the extra $100!
