I'm considering upgrading my CPU from the Ryzen 5 7600X, but I'm torn between the 9700X and the 9800X3D. There's about a $150 price difference between them. My current setup includes an RTX 5070 GPU and a 650W power supply. I mainly want to achieve 120 FPS in WuWa and improve my experience in Path of Exile, as well as playing FFXIV and using Blender. While I'm leaning towards the 9800X3D for better gaming performance, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my power supply to support it. What do you think?

Your 650W PSU should handle the 5070 with a Ryzen 5 just fine. For a Ryzen 7 setup, Nvidia suggests a 750W PSU, though. I usually check things using this [recommended PSU table](https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Accessory/Power_Supply/Manual/RECOMMENDED_PSU_TABLE.pdf) from Asus.
Your 650W power supply should be fine for the 9800X3D. When you account for everything, including the GPU and other components, you're looking at around 500W total. You should have some headroom, so I don't think you need to worry about upgrading your PSU right now.
Out of curiosity, how much FPS are you getting with the 7600X? I've heard that the 9700X and 9800X3D are pretty comparable in productivity tasks, but I'm interested in your gaming performance as well.
If you can swing it financially, go for the 9800X3D! But if you're worried about whether it's really worth the extra $150, maybe consider how much you'll use it. Either way, you can't go wrong with an upgrade.
