Is it worth upgrading my friend’s PC from an i5-4690k to an i7-7700?

I'm debating whether to upgrade my friend's PC, which currently has an i5-4690k, 16GB DDR3, and a GTX 1060. I found an i7-7700 along with its motherboard and RAM from an old Optiplex, and I've made sure it runs with a proper PSU. I'm curious if this upgrade would actually make a noticeable difference in gaming performance, particularly in terms of FPS and stuttering, or if it would just slightly improve efficiency and handle occasional CPU tasks better. My friend has experienced some stuttering while playing games, and the download/update speeds are pretty slow, but I wonder if that could be more related to the HDD rather than the CPU.

Definitely an upgrade! However, quantifying the performance difference can be tricky. You might see some improvements, especially in smoother operation and quicker updates, but the question is whether the effort of swapping out parts is worth it. The overall gains might feel minor.

That's exactly what I'm worried about! I get that newer tech could make everything run more smoothly, but is it really worth tearing everything apart? I'm looking for someone to tell me "no" with solid reasons rather than just a "maybe." Thanks!
