I'm looking to give my aging computer setup a boost so I can play the latest games like Forza Horizon 6 or Cyberpunk at high settings. I don't have much knowledge about PCs, but here's my current setup:
- GTX 1060
- i7 8700
- 16 GB RAM (2x8 GB)
- Zalman 600W power supply (not sure about the specific model)
- 480 GB SSD
I'm considering just upgrading to a 5060 8GB for now but wondering if that's a good move. I might upgrade more components later, but this is a temporary setup for about two years. Thanks for any advice!

You might want to consider getting an RTX 2070 or 2070 Super. In two years, you can sell your whole build easily since it's locked to PCIe 3.0, so no need to go too extreme right now!
Why not check out the 9060XT? If you're okay with used cards, a cheaper option like the 3060 or 6700XT could also be solid. Just do your research!
If you're checking just for a slight upgrade, the 5060 will still give you a decent boost over the 1060. Just know that you might lose a bit of performance due to your setup, but it could still be worthwhile!
Considering your setup, it might be time to rethink the whole build, especially if prices come down. But if you're keen on upgrading now, a used 3060 or 6700XT could serve you well without breaking the bank.
If you're planning to upgrade to a 5060, keep in mind that your motherboard has a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, which could limit performance a bit. It's better to look for an x16 GPU like the 3060 or wait for a more comprehensive upgrade.
So, should I just go for the 3060 instead of the 5060 then?
Yeah, honestly, a 3060 might give you a better bang for your buck!

Yeah, I guess waiting for deals could help out.
