I built my PC around 2016 and have gradually replaced a few parts, including the motherboard. I'm planning to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB of RAM, but I'm unsure whether the graphics card should be replaced too. The GTX 1070 is still running the games I play, with Baldur's Gate 3 and Deadlock being the most demanding. I also do some photo editing and usually have Discord or a video open on a second monitor. I'm not planning to play many new AAA games soon, so I'm wondering whether a GPU upgrade would make a noticeable difference or if I should simply add more RAM and wait. My CPU is an Intel Core i5-9400F. I'd prefer to spend under $600, with European retailers being most convenient, though US options are also possible. I'm also considering reusing the GTX 1070 in my partner's PC, but current GPU prices seem high.

With an i5-9400F and no urgent need to play newer AAA games, there’s no strong reason to rush. GPU and RAM prices have been unpleasant lately, and a newer graphics card could end up being held back in some games by the older six-core CPU. I’d upgrade to 32GB if you’re seeing memory usage problems, then save for a larger platform upgrade later.
