Is it worth upgrading my pre-built gaming PC or should I just save for a new one?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out what to do with my HP Victus 15L gaming desktop (model TG02-0xxx) since it's really not cutting it for gaming. Here are the specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6400
- RAM: 8.00 GB (7.34 GB usable)
- Storage: 256 GB SSD

I bought this PC on a sale and I don't know much about building or upgrading. Currently, I can play games like Minecraft and Fortnite on mid-low settings, but I'd love to experience AAA games with decent quality (like 1080p at 60fps) without all the lag and noise from the fans.

I've been reading up, and I think I can maybe upgrade the RAM and GPU, but I'm unsure if it's worth it considering it's a pre-built system with an APU, and I worry about compatibility and costs. Should I upgrade my current setup or aim to save up for something entirely new that I can build myself later? Any advice would be super helpful!

I think you can easily upgrade your RAM and GPU. For a GPU upgrade, I’d recommend an RX 6600 or something similar. Just make sure your power supply has the right connectors, and you should be in for a nice performance boost. Don't worry too much about the APU; it’s decent! Best to start with RAM and the GPU to see a real difference.

Thanks for the feedback! Any recommendations on where to check for used GPUs?

If you're upgrading, definitely go for more RAM first! 16GB of DDR4 is pretty much standard now. For the GPU, a used RX 6600 would be a good choice, just be mindful of your PSU. You might find them for under $200 if you're looking on marketplaces.

Great, thanks! What prices should I expect for a used RX 6600?

You've got a good base for 1080p! Upgrading the RAM and GPU will definitely help. Your current APU isn’t the worst, so adding a better GPU could make a real difference. Just check if your PSU can handle a new GPU since it’s 350W—look for a used RX 6600 or RX 6600 XT to keep within your power limits, and you’ll be golden!

I checked, and my PSU is 350W. Would that restrict my options much?
