While I'm getting around 150-240 FPS in Fortnite at performance mode and play a lot of campaign games at 1440p, I'm wondering if upgrading to a 9800X3D would make a significant difference. My CPU is about five years old, so I'm curious if the upgrade is worth it, especially since the 5070 Ti is performing well. Should I consider this a necessary upgrade now, or can I wait?

You might be fine with something like a 7600 or a 9600. They can handle the 5070 Ti well at 1440p. But if you’ve got the budget, go for it and snag a 7800X3D or the 9800X3D. It's a solid investment if you're really into gaming.
