Is Linux a Better Option for Low Latency in Music Production?

Hey everyone! I recently got a Roland FP30X and I'm excited to start creating music on my PC. I've been using Windows and Reaper, but I've been struggling with terrible latency issues. It's super frustrating when there's a delay, making it hard to record over existing tracks. I've tried ASIO, which helped a bit, but it's still not great. I've heard that many people prefer Macs for their lower latency, but I'm wondering if switching to Linux might help with my latency problems. My PC is pretty capable with a 7600X CPU, a 7900XT GPU, and 32GB of RAM. Has anyone else made the switch, and did it improve your music production experience? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Linux is awesome for music production because you have full control over the system. You can set it up for near-zero latency, which is essential for recording music. I suggest checking out Ubuntu Studio; it's pre-configured for audio tasks and should help manage latency well. If you still face issues after trying it, feel free to ask for more tweaking tips!

Thanks for the info! I'm definitely considering trying it out. I’ve watched some tutorial videos, and I think I just need to dive in and get used to using Linux.
