Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice regarding operating systems for a friend who is a complete beginner with computers. They've mostly just used their smartphone and are really new to everything. I'm curious if Linux Mint would be a good fit for them, especially considering that a lot of software doesn't support Linux. Should they maybe start with Windows 11 instead, or is there enough support in Linux Mint to help them get started? Any insights would be appreciated!

Honestly, I think Windows might be better for your friend, not just because it's easier but also because more people use it. This means there's a bigger chance for your friend to get help when they need it. Plus, if you're teaching them, knowing the most common system will make it simpler!
Linux Mint can be a solid choice for beginners! It's pretty straightforward, and for simple tasks like browsing and using office programs, it works well out of the box. Sure, Windows has more app support, but it also can be confusing and bloated if you're new to computers.
