I recently bought a prebuilt MSI computer, and I knew I would want to upgrade it eventually. Right now, my setup is listed [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bTXcYX). I upgraded the power supply from an 850W non-modular 'MSI' PSU to a Corsair 1000W. Living in a rural area, power outages happen quite often, so I have a whole-house generator that kicks in automatically when we lose power. My concern is that since the generator doesn't always provide the cleanest power, I want to ensure my PC is protected. I purchased this UPS, which is rated at 900W. Calculators suggest I only need about 600W peak for my build, and with some extra headroom, I technically needed an 850W PSU. But now that I'm using a 1000W PSU, will that work with a 900W UPS? Am I making the right call here or should I be reconsidering my setup?

Totally agree! As mentioned, your components like the 5080 draw just about 360W and the 9900X around 162W at full load, so your calculator seems spot on. Plus, sizing up to a 1000W PSU was a smart move for future upgrades and better longevity. The 10-year warranty is a great bonus, too!
Absolutely! Giving yourself that buffer is always wise, especially with fluctuating power situations. Good call!
You're probably in good shape! Your power supply won't draw the full 1000W unless your components really require that much power, which they typically won't. The system will only take what it needs, so you should be fine with your 900W UPS.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was worried about the PSU overheating or damaging my components, especially with power spikes. I feel much better about my choices now!
