I'm having some serious issues with my WD SN580 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD. While playing God Of War Ragnarok, my PC suddenly crashed. After restarting, it crashed again, and now it won't boot at all. I tried to verify files on Steam, but it didn't work. Even after deleting the game and trying to redownload, I ran into issues. I also cleared the Steam cache, which revealed about 4000 files were corrupted and needed to be reacquired, but the reacquisition keeps failing. My other drives are detected fine, but Crystal Disk Info isn't recognizing my SSD. I'm really concerned that it might be dead, especially since it's only a year old. Is there any way to test it further, or am I out of luck? Here are my system specs:
- MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk
- Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- Deepcool AK620 CPU Cooler
- XFX Swift RX 9070 XT 16GB
- G.Skill Ripjaws V (4x8GB) 3600Mhz CL16
- Patriot P400 Lite M.2 SSD 1TB (Gen 4)
- WD SN580 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD (Gen 4)
- 250GB 2.5" Sata SSD
- 2TB HDD
- Seasonic CORE GM-650W
I did manage to use chkdsk in command prompt and it seemed to recover some files, but I'm still not sure about the SSD's health.

You might want to try swapping the SSD into another slot on your motherboard to see if it gets recognized. If that doesn't work, testing it in a different computer could also help figure out if the issue lies with the drive itself.
Honestly, it sounds like your SSD might be on its way out. If you can’t get it to show up properly on multiple systems, that’s a bad sign.
Could you explain a bit more about why you think it’s dead? I’d like to understand better.

I did swap it into another slot, and it shows up on my PC and Steam, but it’s not appearing in Windows Settings or Advanced Storage Settings. It does show as healthy in Disk Management, though.
