I'm currently using a Ryzen 5800X with a GTX 2070 Super and I'm considering upgrading to either a 5070 or a 5070 Ti. However, I've been getting mixed results from various bottleneck calculators that suggest I might have a significant bottleneck. Some options I've seen mentioned are upgrading to a Ryzen 5900X or 5950X. I recently upgraded my PSU as recommended in a PSU tier list and it came with the new power cable needed for the latest GPUs. Just wondering if I really need to swap out my CPU to make the upgrade worthwhile!

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about those calculators. A Ryzen 5800X should pair just fine with a 5070 without major issues. If you're set on upgrading, I’d suggest looking into the 5700X3D; it’s been known to perform better than even the 5950X in gaming scenarios. You'll be good to go with the 5070, and the 5070 Ti should work well too, though it might show a slight bottleneck. Don't forget to check out the RX 9070 series as well—it could be another good option.
Totally agree, the 5700X3D is often overlooked but it’s a great option. I run a 5080 and I’ve yet to find a game that my processor struggles to keep up with the GPU. So yeah, a 5700X3D would definitely be an upgrade over the 5800X!
Is the 5700X3D really that much better than the 5800X for gaming?
