Is My Approach to Learning MERN Effective?

Hey everyone! I'm currently following The Odin Project's MERN path as my main study guide. Here's how I'm approaching my learning: I stick strictly to the Odin curriculum, and whenever I have doubts or need deeper explanations, I rely heavily on ChatGPT for answers. I don't watch any YouTube tutorials and only glance at official documentation when absolutely necessary. My focus is on building things hands-on and absorbing concepts step by step. I'm curious about a few things: Is this a good way to learn? Am I missing out on industry-level coding practices by not observing experienced developers? Does watching senior devs work actually enhance architectural thinking? Should I be prioritizing documentation more and relying less on AI? What would you recommend changing about my learning strategy? My goal is to be industry-ready and have strong fundamentals, not just finish projects. Would be great to hear honest feedback from experienced devs and fellow learners!

Honestly, using AI like ChatGPT is great, but it shouldn't replace self-exploration. The real growth comes from studying and experimenting on your own, instead of just getting quick answers. Additionally, watching coding tutorials may trick your brain into thinking you're learning when you may not be. So cut back on AI for now and read more documentation.

As for your questions, whatever works for you is fine, but make reading documentation a priority. Industry practices change often, and you'll miss out if you depend too much on AI. Plus, trying things out yourself is the best way to learn. So, just keep experimenting and see what sticks for you!

I think you're relying a bit too much on AI. It's definitely good for quick answers, but you should really try to dig into articles, blogs, and official documentation instead. They can provide deeper insights that AI might miss. Also, focus on building as much as you can! Hands-on experience is invaluable.
